Greenwich 2015 Election Guide: The Candidates, Polling Places, Sample Ballot

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 and we share with you some of the information you'll need to know.

When Greenwich voters head to the polls on Election Day, they will be choosing who will lead the town for the next two years.

Incumbent Republican First Selectman Peter Tesei is seeking a fifth two-year term and is being challenged by Democrat Frank Farricker and petition candidate James Reilly. The Tesei — Farricker match-up is the second time the pair have faced one another. Tesei, a former bank executive, beat Farricker, who works in real estate, in 2007.

The Board of Selectmen candidates are Democrat Drew Marzullo who is seeking a fourth term, and Republican John Toner who is seeking his first full two-year term. Toner was appointed to the board in January to fill the unexpired term of Dave Theis who died unexpectedly in December.

All 12 candidates for the Board of Estimate and Taxation also are guaranteed election to a two-year term. Voters can elect any six candidates for the board and each party has nominated six candidates. On the Republican side are incumbents Bill Drake, Michael Mason, Arthur Norton, Leslie Tarkington and Nancy Weissler. Former First Selectman Jim Lash is the sixth Republican candidate.

On the Democratic ticket are incumbents John Blankley, Mary Lee Kiernan and Jeffrey Ramer. New to the board will be Leslie Moriarty, Jill Oberlander and Elizabeth Krumeich.

The other competitive races include:

Greenwich Board of Education

Only two candidates from each party may be elected and for the first time in years, both parties have three nominees. On the Republican side, the candidates are incumbents Chairman Barbara O’Neill and Peter vonBraun, and newcomer Lauren Rabin. On the Democratic ticket are incumbent Jennifer Dayton, the board vice chair, and newcomers Dr. Gaetane Francis and Anthony Lopez.

Tax Collector

Republican incumbent Tod Laudonia is seeking a third term. Democratic challenger Howard Richman has campaigned on his platform issue of making the tax collector position an appointed one rather than elected. Richman said an appointed tax collector would help save the town money and create greater efficiency.

Board of Assessment Appeals

There are three candidates from each party and voters may vote for any three. The candidates are Democrats Mary McNamee, Laurence Simon and William Bambrick; and Republicans Richard Kriskey, Jack Kriskey and Jeff Reardon.
