GREENWICH, CT — Outdoor dining along Greenwich Avenue will wrap up a little early this month to help facilitate upcoming paving work.

The Planning & Zoning Department and Department of Public Works recently issued a notice informing residents that crews will be removing the in-street dining areas, or "dining nodes," on Greenwich Avenue on Oct. 16-17.

The outdoor dining season was previously approved to run through Oct. 19, although the town reserves the right to modify the schedule based on scheduled projects.

"As advised at the start of the outdoor dining season, there are capital, maintenance, and utility projects scheduled on Greenwich Avenue during the 2025 calendar year. The scope of this work, along with the regular maintenance of Town streets, has necessitated the repaving of the Avenue before the end of the year," the notice from town officials said.

Outdoor seating approved on the sidewalk may remain in place until Nov. 20.

"We thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation as the Town carries out this necessary work," the notice added.

Paving on Greenwich Avenue is scheduled to take place during the overnight hours from about 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

To make the work more efficient, DPW officials have said paving and striping will be done block-by-block.

Parking along Greenwich Avenue will be eliminated during overnight working hours, but restored during the daytime, according to Greenwich DPW Commissioner Jim Michel previously said.
