Greenwich Junior United Way To Expand Program To More Students
The mission of Greenwich Junior United Way is to positively impact the community through action.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Junior United Way, a student-led volunteer organization, will expand this fall to include middle school students in grades six through eight, building on the success of its high school program.
The organization, which aims to address community needs through student-led initiatives, has been credited with leading town-wide donation drives, hosting annual events such as Together-We-Shine and supporting local causes through volunteerism.
"I have seen first-hand the incredible work of the Greenwich Junior United Way and believed younger students, including my own middle schooler, could meaningly contribute and benefit before high school," said Chelsea Woody, a Greenwich United Way board member, in a news release.

The expanded program will welcome students from all Greenwich schools, with weekly meetings where participants collaborate on community challenges and develop solutions. The group also partners with other organizations and individuals to promote inclusion, connection and leadership development.
"The impact our students have goes far beyond service and projects. It all comes down to connection – showing people that they matter and they are important," said Amanda Finn, program manager of the Greenwich Junior United Way.

Middle school participants will gain experience in areas such as project management, fundraising, advocacy, budgeting and public speaking. While guided by adults, students take the lead in designing and carrying out initiatives.
With the expansion, the Greenwich Junior United Way continues its mission to foster the next generation of leaders while encouraging civic engagement and community service.
