The lawmaker recently announced his campaign for governor of Connecticut.
GREENWICH, CT — Another Greenwich resident is seeking to become Connecticut's chief elected official.
State Sen. Ryan Fazio (R-36) last week announced his candidacy for governor of Connecticut.
Fazio, 35, was elected to represent the 36th State Senate District in a special election in 2021. He was re-elected in 2022 and 2024. The district covers Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.

In a campaign announcement video posted on Aug. 13, Fazio spoke about his desire to run for governor and various issues he wants to take on.
"Connecticut was once an affordable place where families could build a future, but after years of failed leadership in Hartford, it's where dreams get buried under sky-high electric bills and taxes," Fazio said.

"Under Ned Lamont and his radical legislature, electric rates and taxes have soared to the third highest in the country. They've undermined law enforcement and driven out jobs, opportunity and hope. We all see it, we all feel it," Fazio added. "Families are hurting; there's something broken in our state capital, but it doesn't have to be this way. Connecticut is a great state with great people. It's time for leadership that lives up to both."
Saying he believes "Connecticut's best days are ahead of us," Fazio said he wants to cut electric rates by 20 percent and eliminate the public benefits charge; reduce income taxes by $1,500 for the average family and cap property taxes; and support law enforcement and "create opportunity for all."
"Together, we can change Hartford, save Connecticut and create a brighter future," he added.
Fazio was born in Norwalk Hospital and raised in Greenwich, where he graduated from the Greenwich Public Schools District.
After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in economics, he returned to Connecticut and worked in Wilton and Stamford in energy, agriculture, and shipping.
Fazio is the ranking senator on the state's Energy & Technology Committee and the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee. He is also a member of the Education, Planning and Development, and Transportation Committees.
He has received several endorsements from his colleagues since his announcement, including from state Sens. Rob Sampson (R-16) and Eric Berthel (R-32), and state Rep. Joe Polletta (R-68).
Before entering state politics, Fazio volunteered on the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting from District 12.
Gov. Ned Lamont, who also hails from Greenwich, has not yet formally announced a re-election bid.
