GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich will come together once again to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

A remembrance ceremony is slated to take place at Cos Cob Park on Thursday, Sept. 11. The ceremony has typically included comments from local officials in the parking lot of the park, followed by the reading of names of those with Greenwich ties who died.

Attendees then bring flowers up to the 9/11 memorial that overlooks Long Island Sound. First Selectman Fred Camillo said in his weekly newsletter he plans on placing a ceremonial American flag at the memorial.

Later on in the day, the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company will hold its annual evening ceremony which will begin at 6:30 p.m.

"It’s been 24 years since this horrific day and it is so important that we continue to come together to make sure we never forget everyone we lost in the attacks and pay tribute to the bravery of the first responders who rushed to the scene, many at the cost of their lives," Camillo said in his weekly newsletter.
