GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich native Alexa Cervantes has been named program coordinator for the recently expanded Greenwich Junior United Way, a student-led volunteer organization now serving middle and high school students in grades 6–12.

Cervantes, a Greenwich High School graduate who studied music at the University of Connecticut, will work with students on programming aimed at community impact through service. In addition to her new role, she teaches music to students in Greenwich, Stamford and New Canaan through various programs.

"Growing up in town, I was actively involved in many organizations. One program in particular, Greenwich Alliance's Tuning In To Music, kept me engaged in the community and helped me find my passion for teaching," said Cervantes in a news release. "I have always intended to give back to students through education in a way that resonates with me, and working with Greenwich Junior United Way volunteers enables me to do just that. I look forward to what we can accomplish together."
