"COVID-19 continues to circulate in the U.S., including in Connecticut," the department said in its announcement, noting that while recent strains have not typically caused severe disease, the virus remains highly contagious and poses significant risks to the elderly and immunocompromised.
The vaccine will be available by appointment to:
- Adults 65 and older
- Adults ages 18 to 64 at high risk for severe COVID-19
The Department of Health encouraged patients to consult with their healthcare providers before scheduling, highlighting the importance of "shared clinical decision making" between patients and clinicians.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling 203-622-7865. Once all available slots are filled, the phone line will be updated.
Insurance will be accepted from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare/Oxford, and Medicare. For those without eligible coverage — including Aetna, Magnacare, and ConnectiCare — a $200 fee will apply, payable by cash or check to the "Town of Greenwich." Credit cards are not accepted.
