Greenwich Residents to Receive Small Business Award
The U.S. Small Businesss Administration has named the founders of the Greenwich Education Group as CT Small Business People of the Year.

Greenwich Education Group CEO Peter Newman and his wife Victoria Newman who is Executive Director have been named Connecticut’s Small Business People of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, the head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), announced the winners from the 50 states and four U.S. territories on Monday. All of the winners are invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, DC on May 1-2 where they will be awarded their individual awards along with recognition of the runners-up and the naming of the 2016 National Small Business Person of the Year.
The Greenwich residents founded the Greenwich Education Group in 2003 that provides students individualized instruction, tutoring, coaching and testing preparation to help them achieve their academic potential. Greenwich Education Group operates three accredited, co-ed, independent day schools, Beacon, The Spire School and Pinnacle in Stamford and Greenwich.

Victoria Newman began her career in education as a teacher for Stamford and Greenwich public schools.
Contreras-Sweet said in a statement, "These small business owners represent the best of the best and showcase daily their entrepreneurial spirit and what it takes to be successful in today's evolving and competitive business environment."
Peter Newman said in a statement, "It is an incredible honor to be recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Over the last 13 years, we have worked hard at creating a vibrant business based upon our vision of delivering educational services tailored to the specific needs of each of our clients."
He added. "We firmly agree that it is the entrepreneurial spirit that makes the U.S. economy a world leader. To be cited among a diverse group of highly successful companies from across the country is both a proud and humbling moment for Greenwich Education Group. We are very grateful for being chosen as the Connecticut representative."
Victoria Newman said, "Greenwich Education Group has always focused on delivering the best possible educational services to our clients while balancing the challenges all small businesses face on a daily basis."
Since 1963, the president has issued an annual proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week for the first week in May.
"I'm looking forward to welcoming these talented entrepreneurs to their nation's capital and celebrating their stories to shine a light on American ingenuity and innovation," Contreras-Sweet said.
