Popular Italian Restaurant In Greenwich To Close Its Doors
The eatery recently announced that it will close soon after nearly four decades in business.
GREENWICH, CT — Pasta Vera, the popular Italian restaurant that's been a staple on Greenwich Avenue for nearly four decades, is closing its doors.
The eatery, located at 48 Greenwich Ave., announced plans to close on Facebook earlier this month.
"After 38 years of serving our amazing community, we are closing the doors of Pasta Vera on Aug. 1," the business said in the post. "Thank you for your unwavering support and the countless memories we've created together. Most importantly… Thank you for being a part of our journey."

Owner Susan Della Ragione told Greenwich Time that a rent increase factored into the decision to close, and that it was difficult, especially since her chef and staff have been with her for years.
"It's disrupting a lot of lives… But what can you do? It is what it is," she said to the Greenwich Time.

The menu at Pasta Vera features a variety of salads, antipasti, pasta dishes, pizza, paninis and wraps, Italian entrees and desserts. There is also a separate catering menu.
"Susan’s journey with Pasta Vera is a testament to passion, dedication, and a profound love for authentic Italian cuisine. Over three decades ago, Susan embarked on a culinary adventure that would shape the essence of Pasta Vera as it stands today," the restaurant's website says. "From the very outset, Susan’s commitment to crafting fresh, homemade pasta and honoring traditional Italian dishes became the cornerstone of Pasta Vera’s identity. Tirelessly working alongside a team of passionate chefs, she honed her skills, mastering the art of pasta-making and perfecting the nuances of classic Italian recipes."
Customers expressed sadness at the closing in the comments underneath Pasta Vera's post.
"We are beyond sad that our favorite Greenwich restaurant will be no more. During COVID, we purchased endless delivered meals, and we must have had hundreds of meals there over the years. Best wishes to the staff and owner, who have made an important contribution to our community," one customer said.
"Many, many great family memories there (and a lot of great meals as well.) I’m crushed. Thanks so much for 38 great years!" said another.
The business has not indicated if it will open elsewhere.
