Guilty Plea to Reduced Charges Resolves Greenwich Sex Assault Case

A former Greenwich resident was accused of sodomizing a young girl.

A former Greenwich resident has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of risk of injury to a minor, resolving a child sexual assault that occurred when the man lived in town.

In June 2010, Jamey Rivera, 38, was arrested on charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, stemming from an allegation that he sodomized a girl at his Greenwich home several years earlier, according to The Advocate. The incidents allegedly occurred over the course of about five years before police began investigating in 2009, according to the newspaper.

Prosecutors said the victim agreed to resolve the case if Rivera pleaded guilty to the risk of injury charge. The defense attorney said his client’s plea made Wednesday in state Superior Court in Stamford means he did not admit to sexually assaulting the child.
