Here's The Latest Central Middle School Construction Update

Take a look back at work that was completed in December and see what's ahead for January at the Central Middle School construction site.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools released its latest construction update for Central Middle School this week, and the new building appears to be coming together.

The new 125,000 gross square-foot building is being constructed just north of the current school.

The existing school will continue to function until the new structure is complete and receives a final certificate of occupancy.

If all goes according to plan, the new $112 million CMS could open before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Here's work that was completed in December:

  • Completed exterior AVB (air and vapor barrier) systems
  • Continued site utilities and utility corridor work
  • Continued exterior façade installations throughout
  • Continued above-ceiling MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) installations at the lower level
  • Completed drywall at 2nd floor classroom spaces
  • Started drywall taping and prime painting in 2nd floor classroom spaces
  • Started above-ceiling and classroom finishes
  • Completed delivery and placement of mechanical room equipment

Here's a look at work expected to take place in January:

  • Continue site utilities and utility corridor work
  • Continue exterior façade installations throughout
  • Continue above-ceiling MEP installations at the lower level, including the auditorium
  • Continue taping and painting at 2nd floor classroom spaces
  • Begin ceilings and MEP finishes at 2nd floor classroom spaces
  • Begin drywall installation at 1st floor
  • Continue delivery and placement of mechanical room equipment

Under Greenwich’s noise ordinance, Turner Construction may work past 6 p.m., by monitoring and complying with residential decibel limits at property lines, the school district said.
