Here's The Latest Construction Update For Greenwich's Central Middle School

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools this week announced its December 2025 construction update for Central Middle School.

The new 125,000 gross square-foot building is being constructed just north of the current school.

The existing school will continue to function until the new structure is complete and receives a final certificate of occupancy.

If all goes according to plan, the new $112 million CMS could open before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Here's work that was completed in November:

• Substantially completed placement of slab on grades for building
• Substantially completed exterior framing and sheathing
• Substantially completed roofing system installations
• Continued exterior AVB (air and vapor barrier) installations throughout
• Continued installation of exterior façade
• Started drywall installations at 2nd floor classroom spaces
• Continued above-ceiling MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) installations at the lower level
• Continued storm utilities around site

Here's a look ahead at anticipated work in December:

• Substantially complete exterior AVB systems
• Continue site utilities and utility corridor
• Continue exterior façade installations throughout
• Continue above-ceiling MEP installations at lower level
• Continue drywall at 2nd floor classroom spaces
• Start above-ceiling and classroom finishes
• Delivery and placement of mechanical room equipment

The project has received temporary exemptions to the town's noise ordinance, permitting Saturday morning work and holiday activity through December, the latest update from GPS says. The exemptions are submitted monthly when needed.
