Human Remains Found In Greenwich, Police Say

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct further examination, police said in an announcement.

GREENWICH, CT — Human remains were found in Greenwich at a construction site last week, according to an announcement Tuesday evening from police.

The remains are "of considerable age," police said, citing preliminary information.

On Sept. 18 during the work day at a construction site in the northern part of Greenwich, workers discovered what appeared to be human remains after soil was disturbed by an excavator, police said. An exact location was not provided by the department.

The remains were "carefully collected" from the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the state of Connecticut responded to take custody of the bones, police added, noting the Connecticut State Police assisted in the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct further examination, and any additional information will be released by their office as it becomes available, police said.
