Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools Dr. Toni Jones sent an email to the school community shortly after the GPD announcement.
"This morning, a student at Eastern Middle School reported to us that they were approached by a stranger from behind on Lockwood Road, held for a few seconds, and then quickly released," Jones wrote. "That student rushed to the school and reported the incident immediately. We then called the Greenwich Police Department. The student was unharmed, but understandably, very scared."
