Jim Kingery: 5 Reasons I Love Tod’s Point
Tod's Point is one of the most beautiful places in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Tod’s Point, or Greenwich Point Park, is a beautiful local destination in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. With a wonderful mix of greenery, beach, and historical landmarks, Tod’s Point has something to offer to everyone.
Here are the top 5 reasons that I absolutely love Tod’s Point:
- Private Beach – Tod’s Point has a private beach for Greenwich residents. While non-residents can purchase guest passes in the summer months, the private beach access allows for more quiet and fewer crowds. The beach area offers gazebos for shade and also hosts many different types of concession options for visitors.
- Hiking Trail – The 2.6-mile loop trail is perfect for walking, jogging, and birdwatching. The flat terrain makes it manageable for families and the elderly alike. The circular path involves crossing bridges, NYC skyline views, and passing historic buildings.
- Grassy Areas – Throughout its 147 acres, the park offers plenty of grass for playing ball, sunbathing, picnicking, schmoozing, reading, and more. There are picnic tables in many areas and charcoal grills for those who want to barbecue.
- Old Greenwich Yacht Club – The non-profit yacht club is supported by 350+ families and is open to all Greenwich residents. The small house in the park serves as a meeting place for all community members. The Club offers cruises, fishing excursions, kayak tours, and many other unique activities.
- History – Tod’s Point was originally owned by J. Kennedy Tod. With his significant net worth, he appreciated that a communal area such as this could provide so much to so many. Despite the development of the area for recreational use, the historic aspects of the former estate remain. Visitors can’t help but notice the historic structures throughout the park, instilling a feeling of importance and dignity. Some of these buildings include: the Seaside Garden, Innis Arden Cottage, and Chimes Building.

These are just some of the special features of Tod’s Point. It's great to leave the office, the car dealership, the house or where-ever you maybe and enjoy some of what Tod's Point has to offer. Whether you are looking to explore, exercise, swim, learn, or relax, a visit to this exquisite park is sure to be a day well spent.
