The Last-Minute Push in Greenwich

Both the Democratic and Republican parties are planning blitzes around town this weekend.

As the last weekend before Election Day winds down, Greenwich candidates have a full slate of activities planned.

So here’s what’s happening around town this weekend.

The Democrats:

The Greenwich Democrats are planning to begin their day at Armstrong Court at 11:30 a.m., “with fun, DJ’s and ice cream from special friends. We are going to celebrate the season, the election and look forward to an eventful next two years. Look out for very important guests meeting the folks at Armstrong and talking election,” according to the party’s most recent announcement.

They will then head over to Wilbur Peck Court at 1:30 p.m.

And then the Democratic team will fan out for a mass canvass all throughout Greenwich. They also will have their mobile billboard cruising around town. At 12:30 p.m., they’ll be at the Havemeyer Building on Greenwich Avenue; at 2 p.m. at the Cos Cob Starbucks; at 3:30 p.m. in Old Greenwich and at 4:45 p.m. in the Glenville neighborhood of town.

And Greenwich’s U.S. Sent. Richard Blumenthal also is expected to attend.

The Republicans:

At 11 a.m. Saturday, the Greenwich Republican Town Committee will kick off its final campaign bltiz with a rally in front of the Greenwich Senior Center, 299 Greenwich Ave.

They’ll be serving coffee, cider, doughnut, bagels and bags of candy to participants. Speakers will include incumbent First Selectman Peter Tesei, Selectman John Toner, and incumbents Town Clerk Carmella Budkins and Tax Collector Tod Laudonia.
