Letter: Support for Selectman John Toner
The Republican is seeking election to a full two-year term on the Greenwich Board of Selectmen.

To the Editor:
John Toner was sworn in as a Selectman nine months ago. With John’s intelligence and demeanor he has gained the confidence of all with whom he has connected during this period. This is what those who know John have come to expect.
John is highly qualified for the position of Selectman. He brings a business background of twenty-seven years in the global banking business with Chase Manhattan. He has hands on familiarity with a large organization and its management and personnel requirements. Previously he had been a teacher. He is a patient and respectful person in dealings with his colleagues and now Town residents. John was a long time, seventeen year member of the RTM and served on several of its committees. He is familiar with how Greenwich’s government leadership interacts.

As an outstanding volunteer and board leader to Town non-profit organizations including Greenwich Hospital and its Auxiliary, Call-A-Ride, Transportation Association of Greenwich, the Book Swap at Holly Hill, and his church, John has been elected as Chairman multiple times. He provides to the Board of Selectmen perspective and substantial experience and interaction with these organizations, which support Town residents’ needs.
As a Selectman, John will retain the Town’s premier residential character as a community with distinct neighborhoods. As a member of the Board of Selectmen, he will appoint persons who carry out these ideals. John listens to Town employees and Town residents. He has the commitment and demeanor to support First Selectman Peter Tesei as a member of the Board of Selectmen.
