Meet The Richest Person In Connecticut

Meet the man who Forbes says has more money (billions) than anybody in the entire state.

GREENWICH, CT — Some of the country's largest hedge funds can be found right here in Connecticut, and those funds are run by some of the world's wealthiest businesspeople. However, one stands above the rest.

Forbes came out with it's list of the "Richest Person in Every State" And the richest person in the Nutmeg state is....

Ray Dalio, who boasts a net worth of $16.4 billion which is self-made, according to Forbes.

Dalio is the founder of Bridgewater Associates, which is not only one of the largest hedge funds in the country but one of the largest worldwide. The Westport-based fund manages $160 billion in assets.

The Greenwich native started from middle class beginnings on Long Island, where he started investing in the stock markets at age 12 by getting tips from golfers that he caddied for, according to Forbes. He earned his MBA from Harvard in 1975, and launched Bridgewater from a New York City apartment.

According to a recent philanthropic study, Dalio and his wife have given $65 million to their Dalio Foundation in 2015 alone, which supports environmental, medical research and K-12. Dalio is the largest philanthropic donor in the state, according to the study.
