In Memoriam: Mary G. Dwyer
The long-time Greenwich resident passed away Oct. 26 at the age of 88.

Mary G. Dwyer, a longtime resident of Greenwich and Pelham Manor, NY, died on Monday, October 26th in Minneapolis, MN. Mary was 88 years young.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, a fact she was proud of and made sure to mention to any who asked.

She also worked many years at Macy’s Herald Square and thoroughly enjoyed the Thanksgiving parade. Upon getting married to James E. Dwyer, who preceded her in death in 1980, she moved to Pelham Manor, NY where she raised her family.
She was active in the Pelham Manor community and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was a long time member of the Larchmont Shore Club and spent many summers watching her sons swimming meets and laughing with friends.

Mary is survived by her three sons, Jim, John, and Frank, two daughters-in-law, Sheri and Tami, and four grandchildren, Chelsea, Jay, Courtney, and Caitlin.
Mary was a graduate of Marymount College where she received a BA in English Literature. Mary was very athletic, playing softball, tennis and bowling. She was a lifelong fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, always lamenting that they had the audacity to move west, away from her beloved Brooklyn. Mary loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends,and sometimes strangers, and sharing a glass of wine and conversation and laughing.
Her parents, Frank and Genevieve Noonan and sisters Madeline O’Neil and Ann Noonan predeceased her.
Mary’s funeral mass will be on Tuesday, November 3rd at 10:00 at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich. The visitation will be the evening before at Knapp’s Funeral Home from 4-8 PM, also on Greenwich Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be given in Mary’s name to St. Christopher’s Church in Roseville, MN (the church her son John serves in) or St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich where she was a parishioner when she resided in Greenwich.
