In Memoriam: Thomas F. Callan
The long-time resident of Greenwich passed away Oct. 30 at the age of 88.

Thomas Francis Callan, 88, passed away Friday, October 30th at Greenwich Hospital surrounded by his family.
Thomas was born in Mount Vernon, NY on August 5th 1927 to Francis and Marietta Callan (Kelly).

He volunteered for the United States Navy on his 17th birthday and served as a member of the Armed Guard in the North Atlantic and the South Pacific during World War II. Thomas married Patricia Broderick at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, NY on September 20th 1952; they lived with their family in Larchmont, NY until moving to Greenwich in December 1965.
A hardworking and dedicated salesman, Thomas worked in the food industry for over forty years, so that he could enjoy his retirement napping at home in patches of sun.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 63 years, and his five children Mary Elizabeth Callan, Suzanne Callan (Ronald Bavero), Virginia Callan (Michael Kucera), Thomas P. Callan, and Ann Callan. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Arthur, Marie-Claire, Christopher, and Eugenie Coleman, Cailan O’Neill Piantek, Sarah Brodeur, and Margaret Callan, his great-granddaughter, Bridget Piantek, and his brother, Richard Callan of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Marietta Callan, and grandson James Patrick O’Neill.
His family would like to extend many thanks to the Greenwich Hospital staff for the excellent care provided.
The wake will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 31 Arch Street, Greenwich on from 4-8pm. The funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday November 4th at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Greenwich at 11am. The burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
