A Quiet Holiday Weekend for Greenwich Police

Police responded to 451 calls between Christmas Eve and Dec. 27.

It was a relatively quiet Christmas holiday weekend for Greenwich Police who say the unseasonably warm weather probably was a contributing factor.

During the four-day period from Dec. 24 through Dec. 27, there were 451 calls for service including 12 motor vehicle accidents. During the same period in 2014, police responded to 432 calls and 23 accidents.

Overall, “It’s a statistically insignificant change,” according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. However, Gray did say that last year’s holiday weather contributed the higher number of crashes. “Weather is a significant contributing factor in accidents,” Gray said.

Thieves made off with a small amount of money taken from cash registers at the DiMare Pastry Shop and Pomodoro Pizzeria. Burglars were unsuccessful in their attempt to enter the Acme supermarket via the rooftop.
