GREENWICH, CT — Bethenny Frankel of "Real Housewives Of New York City" fame sold her Greenwich home earlier this year and moved to Florida, and now she's reflecting on her time living in the Nutmeg State.

Frankel spoke about the differences between living in Florida and Connecticut during a recent episode of her podcast "Just B with Bethenny Frankel," which was released on Oct. 1.

"Connecticut was a prison. That's the honest truth," she said. "For my personality, at that point in my life, Connecticut was a burden, it was a trap, it was a prison, it was stifling, depressing, soul crushing. Not because of the state of Connecticut, which is beautiful, but because of my life there."

Frankel, 54, explained that because she spends a lot of time alone working, she wants to feel "connected to some version of nature" every day.

"While I would walk in Connecticut and go on nature walks and it was nice, now every day I jump in the ocean. I'm in the saltwater, I walk on the sand, I feel the sand on my feet. I can't believe this gets to be my life, this is what connects me to the earth," she added.

She went on to say her new home has elevated her New York City experience.

"When I have to go to New York for work, I'm like, leaping. When I was living in Connecticut, I was dragging into New York. It was only an hour. Now I'm leaping because it's like, wait, I'm part of the New York City experience," she said. "Everything feels like an adventure, and a vacation and an experience, where before it all felt like a drag. I wasn't in the right place and the right base. I really wasn't."

Frankel sold her Greenwich home this past spring for $7,825,000.

The Lake Avenue home, also known as Applejack Farm, was originally built in 1743. It's one of the oldest homes in Greenwich, and has had just a handful of owners over the course of its history.

According to an announcement on the sale, from 1989 to 2001, the property was owned by Lowell Weicker, and his wife Claudia. Weicker served as governor of Connecticut from 1991 to 1995.

The home was last sold in August 2021 for $4.25 million, and it was redesigned.

A self-made entrepreneur, Frankel is a social media influencer, tv producer and NY Times bestselling author, and has starred on Bravo TV's "The Real Housewives of New York City" since its inception.

Frankel is also the founder of BStrong, a disaster relief initiative that has mobilized millions in global aid from hurricanes to humanitarian crises.
