Lawrence “Larry” Campbell Flynn, 88, died April 10, 2025; a U.S. Naval Air veteran and former firefighter who later ran his own landscaping business, he was known for his devotion to the Yankees, animated support of UConn women’s basketball, and his knack for connecting with others.
John Kreymborg Hopley, 90, died April 8, 2025; a former U.S. Army Signal Corps Captain and telecommunications executive who retired as Corporate Vice President of Economic Development, Industry Relations, and Regulatory Affairs at Verizon before founding his own consulting firm, he was also a lecturer, scholar, and avid astronomer with a passion for skiing, stargazing, and global travel.

John R. Bartels, Jr., 90, died March 27, 2025; was the first DEA Administrator, a U.S. Justice Department official, trial attorney, and co-founder of Bartels & Feureisen LLP, and was a Harvard-educated Fulbright Scholar who taught law, followed sports passionately, read voraciously, and found joy in animals and crossword puzzles.
Peter Joseph Silbereisen, 66, died March 24, 2025; a retired police officer with 29 years of service and later a school security officer, he was known for his dedication to public safety, his skill on the water as a boater and fisherman, and his active role in marine rescue operations.

Leo George Entwistle, 89, died March 23, 2025; a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and longtime Boston Edison employee, he was also a former schoolteacher with advanced degrees in education who remained a passionate lifelong learner and avid student well into his 70s.
James Guy Benincasa, 60, died March 23, 2025; a U.S. Air Force veteran and Senior VP of Global Sales at Flextrade, he held business degrees, volunteered through church, youth sports, animal rescue, and AA, and found his greatest enjoyment on the water with family.
James Becket Meeker, 72, died peacefully on March 21, 2025; a Denison University graduate and communications major, he worked in entertainment and client services at ABC and Jack Morton Worldwide, enjoyed hockey, tennis, squash, and boating, and was active in local clubs and community organizations.
Robert E. “Bob” McGinnis, 99, died March 10, 2025; a prolific painter and illustrator best known for his work in magazines an book covers, Western scenes, and iconic movie posters including several James Bond films, he was also a Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame inductee, Merchant Marine, Ohio State football player, and avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, poker, and painting.
