Road Closures, Parking Restrictions Announced For Greenwich St. Patrick's Day Parade 2025

Greenwich will host its 2025 annual St. Patrick's Day Parade this weekend, which police noted will affect traffic in the downtown area.

GREENWICH, CT — The town will host its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, which police noted will affect traffic in the downtown area.

In a Facebook post, police provided the following information regarding road closures and parking restrictions on March 23, 2025:

Parade Route and Timing

  • The parade will begin at 2 p.m. from the Town Hall southern parking lot.
  • The parade will travel north to US Route #1, proceed east on Greenwich Avenue and continue down the avenue to the bottom, where it will disband at Steamboat Road.

Parking Restrictions

  • No parking will be allowed on the east side of Greenwich Avenue from West Putnam Avenue to Steamboat Road, starting at 10 a.m.
  • No parking will also be enforced on the west side of Greenwich Avenue from Bruce Place (Greenwich Commons Park) to Steamboat Road beginning at 10 a.m.
  • Strict enforcement; vehicles parked illegally will be towed.

Road Closures

  • Dayton Avenue will be closed at noon from Field Point Road to the entrance of the supermarket for parade trucks, floats and other elements.
  • Road closures downtown will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. to prepare for the parade. Please plan alternate routes.
  • Route #1 will be closed from Dearfield Drive to Lafayette Place from 1:45 p.m. until approximately 3 p.m.

Detours and Traffic Management

  • Detour signs and police officers will be positioned throughout the downtown area to facilitate safe and efficient traffic flow.
  • Roads will be reopened as the parade passes and it is deemed safe to do so.
  • Please plan accordingly and allow for extra travel time as disruptions are expected.

"Thank you for your cooperation and support in making the St. Patrick's Day Parade a successful and safe event for all," police said on Facebook.
