Soccer Star David Beckham Visits Popular Greenwich Pizzeria: Report

GREENWICH, CT — Even though Grigg Street Pizza in Greenwich has only been open for about four years, the pizzeria has received its fair share of famous visitors — from Barstool Sports founder and pizza aficionado Dave Portnoy, to Guy Fieri of Food Network, and now soccer star and icon David Beckham.

Beckham stopped by the popular pizzeria recently with his daughter as part of a pizza tour across the tri-state area, according to People magazine.

The soccer legend shared a selfie to his Instagram stories on Oct. 18 with his daughter, Harper, outside Grigg Street Pizza, which is located at 1 Grigg St. just off Greenwich Avenue.

Beckham was later seen at John's on Bleecker Street in Manhattan, People added.

Greenwich natives Jon Corbo and Matt Watson opened Grigg Street Pizza in 2020. The spot offers a plain pie and margarita pie, along with a variety of toppings to choose from, and a special pie on Thursdays. You can also grab pizza by the slice.

The menu also has salads, and sandwiches ranging from chicken parm to an Italian combo. A popular item is the Philly cheesesteak, which features dry-aged steak, house-made cheese sauce, fire-roasted green peppers, pickled long hots, white onion mix, and salt and pepper.

"An easy atmosphere. Filled with music, and the smells of cooking. Posters from concerts we went to hanging on the walls. Enough room to have a good time," Corbo and Watson say on their website. "And a simple, consistent menu that isn’t trying to be everything to everyone, but does hopefully have something for anyone. Once we found it we decided to share it. And once you get here, it’s only gonna get better."

Grigg Street Pizza has said that all of its pizza and bread are made with 100 percent zero commercial yeast. The pizza dough is essentially sourdough, although it doesn't have a traditional sourdough taste. The mozzarella at Grigg Street is made in-house.

Portnoy stopped by the pizzeria in 2023 and scored the plain pie an impressive 8.2.

Last October, Fierri filmed an episode of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" at Grigg Street Pizza, along with special guest and chef Christian Petroni.
