Stamford Announces Change In Walk-In Permitting Center Schedule

Since the program launched in October 2024, the city said more than 620 people have attended the walk-in permitting sessions.

STAMFORD, CT —Mayor Caroline Simmons on Friday announced the city will shift its walk-in permitting sessions from a biweekly to a weekly schedule beginning Sept. 3 to increase access for residents and small business owners.

The sessions, which will now run Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., are held in the Permitting Center on the seventh floor of the Stamford Government Center.

Residents and business owners can meet with staff from all city departments involved in permitting to discuss residential and small commercial projects.

Since the program launched in October 2024, the city said more than 620 people have attended the sessions, averaging 29 participants each time.

"Thanks to the outstanding engagement from all participating city departments, this initiative has been a valuable service for Stamford residents and small business owners," Simmons said in an announcement. "By transitioning to a weekly schedule and tailoring the hours to match demand, we are continuing to create a more accessible and customer-friendly permitting process that saves time for both residents and small business owners."
