2 Killed When Boat Overturns In Groton's Mumford Cove: Report

The victims were reportedly duck hunting at the time of the incident.

GROTON, CT — Two people were killed and a third is in serious condition when their boat overturned in Mumford Cove on the Long Island Sound, NBC Connecticut reported.

Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Environmental Conversation Police responded to reports of an overturned vessel just after 9 a.m. Saturday. According to a report in WFSB, one of the victims was found on the shore at Bluff Point State Park. Two others were rescued from the water in Mumford Cove.

The people were believed to have been duck hunting.

The three people were taken to L&M Hospital in New London. Officials confirmed the fatality to NBC Saturday afternoon.

The victims have not been identified.
