Daily Five: Last Day To Fill Out Middle School Survey

Five Things To Know Friday, Dec. 16

1.  Today is Friday, Dec. 16. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies, a high temperature of 48 degrees and a west wind of 26 to 29 mph. Gusts could reach 44 mph. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 28.

2.  Today is the deadline for completing the survey on middle school consolidation. The survey is available on paper and online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GrotonBOE and must be returned by 1 p.m., so if you haven’t weighed in, you still have time. The and must make a decision shortly in the event it needs portable classrooms.

3.  The school board will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the Town Hall Annex to discuss the results of the above survey on middle school consolidation. The Board of Education and Town Council will meet jointly before this, in a committee of the whole meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the Town Hall Annex.

4.  Joe Baril was elected to a District 1 seat on Representative Town Meeting on Wednesday. Barile tied with Dana Parfitt during the November election, with both receiving 94 votes. The three other members of District 1 chose the winner.
