Daily Five: Sing-Along With Santa

1.  Today is Friday, Dec. 2.  The National Weather Service forecasts sunny skies, a high temperature of 51 degrees and a low of 33 tonight.

2.  will hold a sing-along with Santa at 6 p.m. Monday in the library in Groton City.  The event includes Christmas caroling, hot cocoa, cookies and a chance to take your child's photo with Santa. It's free and registration is not required. For more information, call (860) 445-0392. 

3.  The Groton Senior Center will hold a music and dance benefit called "Heal the Land" from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Dec. 16 to benefit the Salvation Army Disaster Services Fund. The program will include particpants from senior centers in Groton, Ledyard, Norwich, Plainfield, Colchester, Mansfield and Guilford.

4.  The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner and Silent Auction is next week if you haven't signed up yet. The event costs $75 per person and will be held from 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the MGM Grand Foxwoods. For more information, call (860) 572-9578.

5.  The Groton Parent Council meets next at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Mary Morrisson Elementary School. The group wants to increase parental involvement in the council. Meetings provide a chance to hear directly from the superintendent.
