Demolition of Pfizer Building 118 Begins in August
The building will be taken down in stages until next April.

Despite their best efforts Groton City officials and state representative will have to sit back and watch Pfizer demolish its former research headquarters on Eastern Point Road as early as next month.
Demolition will begin in August 19 according to a report in The Day, which says it will take places in three phases and it will not require the use of explosives. The job is estimated to cost $2.193 million.
The Groton City Council approved an emergency ordinance last week that creates a 90-day multi-step process for demolishing commercial buildings more than 5,000 square feet. Pfizer’s Building 118 is 750,000 square feet.
