Electric Boat To Hire 3K Workers In 2025
The submarine manufacturer will hire fewer workers than in past years, but is still bringing in 12,000 over three years.
GROTON, CT — General Dynamics Electric Boat will hire 3,000 employees this year, mostly at its Groton facility, according to a statement from U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney.
The figure represents a bit of a slowdown from the 5,300 it hired in 2023 and the 4,100 who signed on last year. Last year, the company had reportedly committed to hiring 5,000 workers annually. Company officials said the slowdown in hiring this year is related to parts of the supply chain.
However, the contractor has plans to hire plenty of employees for work scheduled to last until 2040 and beyond, according to The Norwich Bulletin.

Electric Boat will have hired 12,000 employees over three years. Courtney applauded the "record-breaking numbers" and said Electric Boat is "fueling southeastern Connecticut's sustained growth."
The hiring represents its best three years ever, with more hires than any time during WWII or the Cold War, The Norwich Bulletin reported.

“The company’s aggressive push reflects Congress’ and the Navy’s demand signal for a larger submarine fleet to maintain our nation’s position as the most capable in the world," Courtney said in a statement. "Boosting submarine supply chain companies upstream is critical to meeting that goal and speeding up the construction tempo at the shipyards."
To that end, Courtney said he has "led the charge" with his colleagues on the Seapower Subcommittee "by delivering over $10 billion into the submarine industrial base since FY2018, with another $3.2 billion slated this year followed by $3 billion from Australia under the AUKUS agreement."
Electric Boat recently purchased a $5.5-million property in North Stonington to build a 480,00-square-foot warehouse.
