Groton Officer, Police Dog Track Burglary Suspect

Man charged with third-degree burglary

A Noank man was charged with third-degree burglary Thursday after being tracked down by Groton police and the new police dog, who recently started patrol.

At 11:11 a.m., police responded to the Noank section of town for a report of a burglary in progress, according to a police department news release.

Officer Richard Savino and his K9 partner, “Tek”, tracked the suspect, who had fled. The dog led the officer led to the man, who was taken into custody without incident.

Patrick Holt, 30, of 149 Elm Street, was charged with third-degree burglary, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny and failure to keep a prescription in its original container.

Holt was being held on a $50,000 bond, and will appear in New London Superior Court on Friday.
