Students at Groton School Scored 100 Percent Proficient In Math Two Years In A Row

NBC News is expected to visit Charles Barnum Elementary this week, after students scored 100 percent proficiency in math from third to fifth grade for the second straight year.
Superintendent Paul Kadri said during a recent school board meeting the results are the equivalent of being “struck by lightening twice”.
Last year, School Principal Valerie Nelson received a call from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan about the school's exemplary test scores. This year, the school's achievements were recognized by the Department of Defense.

Charles Barnum, comprised largely of students from military families, enrolls about 425 children.

“I literally thought I had the wrong scores when I picked them up," Charles Barnum Principal Valerie Nelson said of receiving the scores.
