30th Annual Guilford High Concert To Benefit Meals On Wheels
Guilford Meals on Wheels serves about 130 to 150 meals per day to residents in need.
GUILFORD, CT — The 30th annual Guilford High School Meals on Wheels benefit concert will take place Feb. 15.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the high school with appetizers donated by Amandas Healthy Cooking, Pasta Avest, Mary’s Culinary Classes, LLC & Larry Santamaria. Admission is free and donations are graciously accepted. Dessert will be provided after the concert by Meals on Wheels board members.
Guilford Meals on Wheels serves about 260 residents and 130 to 150 meals per day, Director Christi Burton told Patch.

The organization charges a maximum of $5 per meal, but about half of people can’t afford the full amount and pay what they can, she said. Guilford Meals on Wheels doesn’t take state money, and has more flexibility to offer food to anyone who needs it.
Fundraising is very important since food prices have risen, she said. Guilford Meals on Wheels hasn’t increased its price in years.

“We just didn’t want people to be burdened, even if it’s a small increase,” she said.
A small team of volunteers drops off food on six or seven routes per day.
