Chef Tim Brings Healthy Treats to Guilford Elementary School
Guilford Public Schools continue healthy eating initiatives with a visit from Chef Tim.
Just before winter break, Chef Timothy Cipriano, Food Services Director for the Guilford School District, paid a visit to A.W. Cox Elementary, where he taught a first grade class all about cooking, and eating, healthy.
Chef Tim hosted Maria Clark's first graders in the school cafeteria kitchen for a quick lesson on eating healthy. He led the group in whipping up some tasty treats including Fruit Kebabs, Apple Spaghetti and a Vegetable Tree. He encouraged students to bring these ideas home with them and try them with their families.

The Chef, who recently appeared on the Food Network's 'Chopped,' has made healthy eating a focus of his work in the kitchen, and has spearheaded the campaign in Guilford Schools. In a recent video from WTNH.com, Chef Tim and Joann Adinolfi, Guilford Public Schools Cook Manager, spoke about Guilford Public Schools' efforts to start working with local farms when the growing season kicks in again.
Previous to his appointment to his current position in Guilford, he has worked with the New Haven community to initiate educational programs to increase nutritional awareness among students. In 2011, Chef Tim was even named a 'Champion of Change' by the White House for his role in the creation of the 'Chefs Move to School' Program. He has also been an advocate for the 'No Kid Hungry' campaign.
