'Controlled Blasting' To Take Place In Guilford: Here's Where
The blasting is expected to continue through at least the end of November, the town said.
GUILFORD, CT — Controlled blasting operations are currently taking place at 1940 Boston Post Road, and they're expected to continue through at least the end of November, according to an announcement from the town of Guilford.
Property at 1940 Boston Post Road is the proposed site for Guilford Village West, a mixed-use development with 162 multi-family residential units, retail and restaurants.
The Guilford Planning & Zoning Commission approved special permits and a site plan for the project in September.

The Guilford Fire Marshal’s Office has reviewed and approved all required blasting permits for the blasting project, the town said.
To ensure public safety and minimize disruption, the following measures have been implemented:

- Blast mats are being used to contain debris.
- Warning signage has been posted in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Seismographs are in place to monitor vibration levels and ensure they remain within the 29-349-220 Nationally Recognized Good Practices Standard.
"The Fire Marshal’s Office is actively monitoring the site and verifying that all safety and performance standards are being met," the town added. "Residents can expect to hear two to three blasts per day as work continues to remove ledge on the west side of the construction site."
