Day Three Recovery Post Sandy, Message from Guilford First Selectman

As day three of recovery begins post Sandy, Guilford First Selectman Joseph Mazza has a message for residets

In between meetings, First Selectman Joe Mazza spoke to Guilford Patch about recovery on Day Three here in town post Sandy.

"We are continuing to work on restoring power in town today," said Mazza. "We are also continuing to clear trees and downed lines."

"There are currently 13 utility crews working in Guilford. Some are safety crews to ensure power lines are secure, and others are restoration crews, so we are getting some power back up today."

CL&P plans to focus their efforts on restoring power to elderly housing and schools. "Several schools are up and running," said Mazza. "We should have Melissa Jones up by around noon, and we expect The Gables to get power in the early afternoon if everything goes as planned."

"We have a representative from CL&P here again today, and we also have a CL&P Vice President with us," Mazza added.

"We understand residents frustrations about living without power, and we thank them for their patience," Mazza concluded. "We are doing everything we can to get as much of the town up and running as soon as possible."

The First Selectman also stated that elections will continued as scheduled at designated voting locations.
