'Exceptional' Describes Volunteer & Organizer: Patch Hero

GUILFORD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Michael Song, who nominated his son's teacher and coach, volunteer Dennis Culliton.

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:
No

What does the nominee do for work?:
Dennis helped organize a wonderful team of volunteers to deliver food to the elderly and immuno-compromised as part of the Meals for Wheels, Guilford Care initiative. The initiative resulted in hundreds of meals for seniors and Dennis led the charge to hand out thousands of masks to keep everyone safe. Dennis also has worked to recognize Guiulford's veterans and locations that helped slaves fleeing the south.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
I covered it above, but genuinely feel that Dennis is an exceptional human being.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
He has a heart of gold. Also, he was my other son Evan's cross country coach. He really loves running.
