Guilford Holds Two Events On Opioid Crisis on Monday, Tuesday
Events are sponsored by Guilford D.A.Y. (Developmental Assets For Youth) to focus a spotlight on the opioid crisis impacting young people.

GUILFORD, CT - Two community events designed to focus attention on the opioid crisis are being held on Monday and Tuesday of this week at Guilford schools.
On Monday night, at the Baldwin Middle School, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., free Narcan training will be provided to all those in attendance.
Narcan is an opiate antidote. Opioids include heroin and prescription pain pills such as oxycodone, codeine and morphine. Narcan is a prescription medicine that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose.

Training will include: overdose prevention strategies, signs and symptoms of overdoses, how to administer narcan.
Narcan kits will be available. Please bring your insurance and prescription cards for the mobile pharmacist who will be in attendance.

On Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the high school library, a program will be held on adolescent brain development.
The program will feature nationally known speaker Dr. Ruth Potee, who is a Yale School of Medicine graduate and certified family physician and addiction medicine physician specialist.
Topics that will be discussed will be questions to ask doctors about pain management, brain physiology and addiction, among others.
