Guilford Man Charged In Sexual Assault of Rhode Island Juvenile

GUILFORD, CT - A Guilford man has been arrested on an allegation of a sexual assault of a juvenile male in Rhode Island, police announced today.

Guilford Police Department assisted the Burrillville, RI Police Department by arresting Christopher Michaelson, a 35-year-old male who resides in Guilford.

Burrillville Detectives requested the assistance of the Guilford Police in October 2018 while investigating an allegation of a sexual assault of a juvenile male stemming from Internet and subsequent personal contact in their jurisdiction, police said.

Over the course of the joint investigation, Michaelson was identified as a suspect in the incident in Rhode Island and Burrillville Detectives secured a warrant for his arrest in Rhode Island on charges of 1st Degree Child Molestation, 2nd Degree Child Molestation, Enticement of a Minor 1st Degree and Indecent Solicitation of a Child, police said.

Based upon the Rhode Island warrant, Michaelson was arrested by Guilford Police and charged. He is being held on a $250,000.00 bond and will be arraigned in New Haven if he does not make bond.
