House Robbed, Car Stolen Due To Social Media: Guilford Police
Police warn public to be careful about postings on social media as your posts are being monitored by potential burglars

GUILFORD, CT - Guilford Police have made an arrest in a residential burglary on Long Hill Road in which the family suffered more than $3oo,ooo in losses. Police also say that the home was targeted because of social media posts.
Police said the family returned home from a family vacation to find their home had been burglarized, their car stolen, and extensive damage done to the point that the home was not livable.
During the course of the investigation, Daniel Taylor was identified as the suspect with the assistance of the Glastonbury police department, the CT State Forensic Laboratory and the Westfield Police Department in Mass.

Taylor has been charged with first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal trover.
He is being held on $500,000 bond. He is also suspected in numerous other burglaries in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

During the investigation, Guilford police learned that Taylor and his girlfriend were using social media applications to identify individuals going on vacation or extended stay aways from their residence, police said.
The Guilford Police Department is urging the public to be aware of this method to identify potential burglary victims and to refrain from posting to social media sites about vacations.
