Guilford's 375th Birthday is Next Year: How Do You Want to Celebrate?

In 2014, Guilford will celebrate its 375th Birthday! The 375th committee has been working hard to plan celebratory events to commemorate this special birthday for our town, and now they want to hear your input.

So, on Monday, January 14th, the committee will hold an informational meeting at 7:30 PM. It will be held at the Community Center in the Guilford Room.

The invitation to attend is extended to residents, schools, churches, members of Boards and Commissions, Non-profit organizations and agencies; anyone who would like to learn about the plans, become involved, or give their feedback. The committee hopes to establish connections with local organizations to participate in ideas for this year of celebration. 

According to the committee, there are currently five signature events in development for the event:

New Year’s Eve~ Kick off the year- long celebration of Guilford’s 375th Birthday in 2014. A daylong series of family friendly,  near or around the Guilford Green. December 31, 2013, starting at noon to 9pm.

Crystal Ball~ Dinner, dancing and an evening of mingling and merriment to celebrate Guilford 375th Birthday! A beautiful setting surrounds you as we celebrate Guilford’s birthday with the Crystal Ball at the Guilford Yacht Club. March, 2014.

Covenant/Trail Weekend~ Celebrate the signing of Guilford’s original covenant and the opening of the New England Trail. June 6, 7, 8, 2014.

Concert Extravaganza~ Town wide celebration of performance arts.  May 2014

Fife and Drum Muster~ Connecticut is the heart of Fife and Drum activity and this year will be a muster celebrating Guilford’s 375th Birthday. October 2014.
