Guilford Sets Decision Date on School Start Time Issue
The Board of Education discussed the issue at Monday night's meeting and has set a definite date to make a decision on a schedule change.

GUILFORD, CT - After years talking about the issue of moving back school start times to allow kids more sleep, the Board of Education is poised to take a vote on the matter at its July 9th meeting.
The school board discussed the issue - again - at its meeting on Monday night.
On Tuesday, Board of Education Chairman William Bloss had this to say about Monday's meeting:

"We discussed another alternative suggested by Chris Moore: (1) GHS start 15 minutes later; (2) middle schools start 10 minutes later; (3) elementary schools start 5 minutes later.
"We did not vote on it because we want as much assurance as possible that the bus company could accommodate that and because we wanted an opportunity for the public to weigh in on it.

"We will vote July 9 one way or the other," said Bloss.
School officials need to make a decision soon on the issue if they want the schedule to take effect for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
