Guilford and State Police Holding Internet Safety Event Monday

Police say event is important to attend, mentioning recent incident in which five were arrested for soliciting children online in Guilford.

GUILFORD, CT - A community-wide event about internet safety will be held this coming Monday night. Police, in the wake of an incident in which five suspects were arrested in Guilford for arranging sexual liasions with children online, are urging people to attend.

Below is what the Guilford police are saying about the event on their Facebook page:

"Many of you have contacted us about an internet safety presentation following our Operation "Not In My Town", in which 5 suspects were arrested in Guilford for arranging sexual liaisons with children (fictional characters) they made contact with using social media applications over the internet.

"The first event in the continuing internet safety series for the community will be held on Monday, February 12th, at Adams Middle School, at 7 p.m.

"The presentation will be conducted by the Connecticut State Police, the Guilford Police Department and Guilford Youth and Family Services and will cover various types of internet risks that directly effect our youth. This program is for parents and guardians, as there will be separate presentations for kids during school hours.
