The Historic Guilford Walking Tours Named a 2013 “Best of New England — Editors’ Choice” Winner by Yankee Magazine   Guilford, CT (May 1, 2013) -- Historic Guilford Walking Tours has been recognized as a 2013 “Editors’ Choice” winner in Yankee Magazine’s May/June edition, on newsstands now.

This designation is awarded by Yankee’s editors and contributors, who name select restaurants, lodgings, and attractions in New England to the exclusive list.

For 37 years, Yankee Magazine’s Travel Guide to New England has been the most widely distributed and best-selling guide to the six-state region, providing readers with a comprehensive vacation-planning tool and daily reference.   The Historic Guilford Walking Tours, a Heritage Tourism program is excited to announce the “Best of New England” designation by Yankee Magazine in their 2013 Travel Guide to New England.

These tours were started only last year when Guilford High School Students were hired to research and develop walking tours of their downtown buildings and historic Green including homes and neighborhoods listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

These tours are generously supported by the Guilford Preservation Alliance, the Guilford Foundation, and the Town of Guilford. Yankee Magazine describes the tours as follows: “Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, guides lead a well-researched tour focused on Early American history and architecture.”
