Hurricane Sandy Alert: Message from Guilford First Selectman

Guilford First Selectman chats briefly with Patch about Hurricane Sandy status in town

First Selectman Joe Mazza, still working hard at the EOC coordinating with countless other departments such as the Fire and Police Departments, Public Works, and others, chats quickly with Guilford Patch:

"Our message is the same as before and the status is the same. This storm needs to be taken seriously. We are concerned because right now, we are at low tide, and the water is still very high in several areas. We have another high tide coming in at 11:46 tonight, which is going to be very bad. There is still time to get to the Emergency Shelter, at the Community Center, and I urge you to do so if you have not already and you are in an evacuation area."

Right now, roughly 45 people are checked into the Emergency Shelter. When I spoke to the Community Center, more were coming in.
