Lake Quonnipaug Closed Indefinitely Due To High Bacteria Count

As of Tuesday, residents are prohibited from entering the lake and its beach area. All other town beaches remain open.

GUILFORD, CT — Lake Quonnipaug will be closed until further notice due to a high bacteria count.

The health director on Tuesday made the decision to close the lake, located at 77 Quonnipaug Lane, said Ellen Clow, recreation supervisor at Guilford Parks and Recreation. Residents are prohibited from entering the beach area, Clow said.

A sample of the lake's water was taken and tested this morning, Clow said, and the department is hoping to receive its results by mid-day tomorrow.
