Madison-Guilford Probate Judge To Run for Re-Election

Guilford resident has served as Madison-Guilford probate judge for four years; he has announced he will be seeking re-election.

MADISON, CT - Peter Barrett, Probate Judge for the Madison- Guilford District, today formally announced his campaign for re-election. First elected in 2014, Judge Barrett is a prominent local attorney with deep experience in probate matters.

“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Madison and Guilford for the last four years,” stated Barrett.” “I am committed to continuing the important work of our Probate Court together with anexcellent team of clerks who are dedicated to serving our community.”

“I’ve spent my entire career in the service of families trying to cope with hard decisions,” stated Judge Barrett. “The seriousness of probate matters requires the Probate Judge to be experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and to adhere tothe highest of ethical standards.”

Judge Barrett currently serves on both the Procedures Review Committee and Planning Committee for the Probate Assembly. He will be a presenter on conservatorship issues at the Probate Judges Symposium at Quinnipiac University in October.

A resident of Guilford for 31 years, Judge Barrett and his wife, Jean,have four children: Kate, Maggie, Michael and John. In the past he has served on the town’s Police Commission, Charter RevisionCommission and Pension Commission. He has also served as town counsel to both Guilford and West Haven and is a member of the Connecticut and U.S. District Court Bars.
