GUILFORD, CT — Anyone visiting Guilford public buildings must once again wear a face covering, First Selectman Matthew Hoey announced during a Board of Selectmen meeting Monday morning.

The mask mandate is being reinstated in response to the spread of the COVID-19 delta variant, Hearst Connecticut Media reported. The town's private shops and businesses will still be allowed to make their own mask-wearing rules.

"I take the advice of experts," Hoey told Hearst CT, saying he consulted with the town's health director, Sonia Marino, on the decision over the weekend.
