Obituary: Carol Ann Scarpa, 81, longtime Guilford resident

On October 15, 2023, Carol Ann Scarpa, a longtime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side after an extended battle with cancer. Born on April 21, 1942 to Hilda and Victor Martin, Carol was 81 at the time of her passing.

After many years of service, Carol retired from Guilford Savings Bank. She was her most joyful when creating and tending to her vibrant flower garden. An avid reader and excellent cook, Carol was also a lover of nature and animals, especially her loyal chocolate Labrador Retriever, Lucy.

Carol was predeceased by her sister Judy McDermott and is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Scarpa. She also leaves behind her two children: son Paul Scarpa and his wife Maria Liebl Scarpa of Guilford, and daughter Susan Hebert and her husband Keith Hebert of Oregon. Carol was also the adored grandmother of Nina and Julian Scarpa, and Jack and Paige Hebert. She will be sorely missed by all, including her beloved brother-in-law, Dominic Scarpa.

Friends and family will be gathering on Saturday, October 21 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Route 80), East Haven for visitation, followed by a Parlor Service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol’s honor may be made to the Guilford Sportsmen’s Association, P.O.
